Himgiri Holidays is a single-vendor agency. We design the itineraries, hire the leaders, book the camps and answer the phone. No marketplace, no third operator to chase.

How we run trips

Five commitments that decide most of what this company does — including the trips we turn down.

Every departure is ours
We do not aggregate other operators' trips or resell seats. The leader who meets you at the briefing works for us, and so does the cook, the driver and the crew. When something goes wrong on the road, there is one company to answer for it — this one.
The group cap is the group cap
Twelve on the treks, fourteen to sixteen on the road trips and the heritage circuits. We have turned away paying travellers rather than add a thirteenth tent to a meadow. If a date shows sold out, it is sold out.
Altitude is planned, not gambled
Anything that crosses 4,000 m carries portable oxygen and a pulse oximeter, and the itinerary builds in the acclimatisation night or rest day that makes them unnecessary. That is the extra day you will notice in the price and thank us for on the pass.
One price, in rupees
The number on the trip page is what one person pays, covering everything in the inclusions list. Exclusions are printed next to it rather than discovered later. No currency conversion, no fuel surcharge appearing at the end.
We take dates down out of season
You will not find a Hampta departure listed in January or a Munnar week in the middle of the south-west monsoon. If the season is wrong we would rather sell you nothing than sell you a bad version of it.
  • Day four at Vishansar looks like a wasted day on paper and it is the reason the rest of the trek works. We had two people in the group struggling on day three who were completely fine by day five. Gangabal on the second-last night is the most beautiful campsite I have slept at anywhere in India.

  • Half our group sat out day four and nobody made them feel bad about it. The climb is 1,250 m of stone steps and it is relentless, but the lake at the top with the peaks around it and the langar going is worth every one of them. Ghangaria itself is basic — that is the place, not the operator.

Where the name comes from

Himgiri is an old Sanskrit compound — hima, snow, and giri, mountain. It is the range this company started in and still spends most of its season in, from the Kullu valley to the Ladakhi plateau.

The Kerala and Rajasthan itineraries came later, and for the same reason: we had someone on the ground who knew the ground. That is the only test a new destination has to pass here.
