Best time to go
Any month works; Singapore sits one degree off the equator and runs 26–32°C year-round with high humidity and short afternoon downpours. February to April are marginally drier. November and December are the wettest. Chinese New Year (January or February) and the Formula 1 night race in September both fill the city and lift hotel rates sharply.
Getting there
Non-stop to Changi (SIN) from most Indian metros: about 5h30 from Delhi, 5h20 from Mumbai, 4h20 from Bengaluru and Hyderabad, 4h from Chennai and Kolkata, 4h15 from Kochi. Changi is thirty minutes from the city by MRT and twenty by taxi, and Jewel — the terminal complex with the indoor waterfall — is worth arriving early for on the way home.
Good to know
Visa before travelVisa: Indian nationals require a visa. It is applied for online through an authorised visa agent or a local contact rather than directly by the traveller, is typically issued in three to five working days, and is usually granted with a two-year multiple-entry validity and 30 days per stay. Apply at least three weeks ahead.

- ₹3,000–5,500 per person for meals and transport outside a package if you eat at hawker centres; restaurant dining and attraction tickets push it well past that.

What to know about Singapore
Singapore is the easiest international city in Asia to travel with children, with parents, or with people who do not much like travelling. The MRT reaches almost everything, the tap water is drinkable, nothing is far and the whole island can be crossed in under an hour. That reliability is the product, and it is worth paying for once.
The waterfront is the postcard: Marina Bay Sands, the Supertrees and conservatories at Gardens by the Bay, the Merlion, and the light show over the water each evening. Behind it, the older city is more interesting — the shophouse rows of Chinatown and Little India, Kampong Glam under the gold dome of Sultan Mosque, and Tiong Bahru's 1930s walk-ups. Singapore's hawker centre culture was inscribed on UNESCO's intangible heritage list in 2020, and eating at Maxwell, Old Airport Road or Tekka is both the cheapest and the best food you will have.
Sentosa, reached by cable car or a ten-minute walk across the boardwalk, holds Universal Studios, the aquarium and the beaches. The Singapore Botanic Gardens — a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015 and free to enter — is the counterweight, and the National Gallery in the old Supreme Court is the best collection of Southeast Asian art anywhere.
