Season, route in, and what an Indian passport needs at the border. Rules change — confirm the visa position close to your departure.
Best time to go
November to March. Daytime temperatures sit in the mid-twenties, the beaches are usable and everything outdoors — the desert, the Creek, the Global Village season — is running. April and October are hot but manageable. June to September regularly exceeds 45°C and outdoor sightseeing is not sensible.
Getting there
Non-stop to Dubai (DXB) from more Indian cities than any other international destination: roughly 3h30 from Delhi, 3h05 from Mumbai, 4h from Bengaluru and Hyderabad, 3h45 from Kochi and Chennai. Flights run through the day and the late-night bank is usually the cheapest. Dubai's metro connects both terminals to most of the city.

Visa before travelVisa: Indian nationals need a visa arranged before travel — a 14, 30 or 60-day tourist e-visa, sponsored by the airline, hotel or a licensed agent, usually issued in three to four working days. Holders of a valid US visa or green card, or a UK or EU residence permit, can instead take a 14-day visa on arrival. Passport validity of six months required.
- Currency:
- UAE dirham (AED), pegged to the US dollar. Cards work everywhere; keep small notes for abras and souk purchases.
- Rough daily budget:
- ₹3,500–6,000 per person for meals and incidentals outside a package. Alcohol is heavily taxed and is the single fastest way to double that number.

What to know about Dubai
Dubai is the shortest international flight most Indian travellers will ever take and the easiest one to underestimate. The version everyone photographs — Burj Khalifa at 828 m, the Dubai Mall, the Palm — is real and worth a day. The older city on either side of Dubai Creek is the other half, and the half most itineraries skip.
Al Fahidi, the restored coral-and-gypsum quarter on the Bur Dubai side, still has its wind towers; the abras that cross the Creek for a single dirham are the cheapest and best boat ride in the emirate; and the gold and spice souks in Deira on the far bank are working markets with a large Indian trading presence going back generations. Give this a morning before the malls get any of your time.
The desert starts about forty-five minutes inland. The dune country around Al Lahbab and the Al Marmoom conservation reserve is where the evening safaris run — dune-bashing in a 4x4, camels, falconry and a camp dinner. It is unabashedly staged and it is also, on a clear night with the dunes going dark red, genuinely good.

Well organised, and read the exclusions
No complaints about the running of it — Burj Khalifa slot was well chosen, the Abu Dhabi day was long but properly paced, the guide in Al Fahidi was excellent. Do read the exclusions carefully: flights and the visa are genuinely not in the price, which is stated plainly but I still had to explain it to my parents twice.

The Creek morning is what I remember
I have been to Dubai four times for work and had never crossed the Creek on an abra. Al Fahidi and the Deira souks before any of the malls completely reframed the city for me. The desert night is exactly as staged as you expect and I loved it anyway.
